Haoran Jing

I joined the Hu Group in the Fall of 2018. Before enrolling at the University of Illinois at Chicago, I earned a BS degree in Chemistry from Zhejiang University in China. My previous work is design the material for battery, however I think using nanoscale fluorescence imaging to detect the bio-molecular is highly promising . When I have time, I would like to travel around and experience new places.

Thilini Perera

I was born in Colombo, Sri Lanka. After earning my bachelors degree in chemistry from the University of Colombo and M. S. degree from the University of Toledo, I moved to UIC to earn a Ph. D. Currently, I am continuing my research career under the supervision ofDr.Ying Hu. While my research interests span from nanobiotechnology to analytical chemistry, in Hu lab my work is focused on the application of fluorescence imaging techniques in biological systems. Apart from the scientific research, I enjoy playing musical instruments and listening to classical music.

Undergraduate researchers:

Jane Go

Jane is a third year at UIC pursing a B.S. in Biochemistry. Her research interest lies in immunology and pathology. During her free time, she likes to run, explore the city, and finding new coffee shops to relax!

Nicole Szydlowski

Hello! My name is Nicole and I am a senior at UIC majoring in Biology and minoring in Chemistry. I am a pre-pharmacy student and am planning to start pharmacy school in the fall of 2019. I joined Dr. Hu’s lab because I am highly interested in Biology and Chemistry research; however, I previously worked as a research assistant in a lab that focused on child development and the quality of preschool classrooms through the lenses of sociology and psychology. Some of my hobbies outside of class and research include dance (ballet, jazz, and modern), participating in Polish cultural activities, and volunteering in my community.
